Parla is operated by Innovation Anywhere OÜ. This policy describes what data the Parla application and this website collect, how it is used, and your choices.
How transcription works
When you hold the fn key and speak, Parla records audio from your microphone and sends it to a third-party transcription service (Groq) to convert your speech into text. The raw transcript may then be sent to an AI service (OpenAI) for cleanup — punctuation, capitalization, and filler word removal. The final text is returned to the app and pasted into the focused text field on your Mac.
We do not store your audio recordings or transcripts on our own servers. Audio is sent directly to Groq for transcription; the transcript is sent to OpenAI for cleanup. Both services process the data according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review:
What the app collects
Beyond the audio sent for transcription (described above), Parla
collects no personal data, no analytics, and no telemetry. The app
periodically fetches https://parla-whisper.com/releases/latest.json to
check for updates — this is a plain GET request with no user identifiers
attached.
What this website collects
This website does not run analytics, tracking scripts, or third-party cookies. Standard web server logs may record anonymous request metadata (IP address, user-agent, requested URL) for security and operational purposes. These logs are not shared with third parties.
Payment processing
Purchases are handled by a third-party payment processor. That processor collects the billing information necessary to charge your payment method and issue receipts. We receive only the minimum information needed to service your subscription (email, subscription status). We do not see or store your full credit card number.
Data retention
We retain subscription records (email, purchase date, subscription status) for as long as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. We do not retain audio, transcripts, or usage data beyond the real-time processing described above.
Your rights
You may request deletion of any personal data we hold about you by contacting us. If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR including access, rectification, and portability.
